Ersberg as of right now has given the Kings the best goaltending we've seen in a long long time; granted the bar wasnt set very high but nonetheless its nice to see us getting good goaltending which leads me to my next question...

The question was "Are you sold?" The criteria of "playing the best hockey for team x in a long time" doesn't "sell" me on anything. If it meant **** then guys like Brian Boucher & Ty Conklin would be world beaters right? After all, they played well for stretches too.

Hell, just within the Kings organization we've seen it from Garon, LaBabera, & now Ersberg within the last two years. If people were that gullible before this whole fiasco I would think that the personal experience with the Kings goaltending situation would have corrected the problem of jumping to conclusions too soon, but apparently not.

Three things:

1. I started with a simple answer that should have spoken for itself.
2. When Corky responded with "What Does he have to do? Win 30 games?" which by the way, wouldn't even do it (See: Garon, Mathieu), I responded in kind. Now if he/she/it was legitimately asking the question then my response was wrong, but I took it as sarcasm (as in "WTF does this guy have to do to prove himself.").
3. Maybe you haven't noticed, but it's kinda my shtick.

Again, Lomabrdi is going to give him a qualifying offer (10% raise over his Paragraph 1 salary of 575K) and give him a chance to make the roster in 08. That's it.

Hey, combine this with the buyout of Cloutier and Larbarera's contract, the Kings are spending about 3 million on goaltending next season.

Of course, Ersberg could also be another Garon, where he fades after 45 or so games played.

He's definitely good, but he's playing for a chance to play in the NHL. We'll see how he does when he is given a chance next year.

Considering this is the team that made us all hit our knees in thankful prayers when Sean Burke was plucked off the scrap-heap last season, I think it's nice that the Kings are getting decent goaltending from someone not 45 years old and who may come back next season. Ersberg looks really in control and seems to have some desire and I think the team is feeding off that as well. Maybe not THE answer but definitely worth a look next season. I already feel he's better than JLB the rebound machine.
