Thanks Scott! A tough guy who played the game with honor and courage. The Ducks hanging around to shake his hand and show respect personifies Thorty's career in the NHL. A class guy all the way around.
Scott Thorton was a good player for other teams never the kings. I will applaud him as a member of the NHL but i was really surprised by the amount of love given to him at the game. I guess they were trying to get the fans focus off the season but still Im sorry he didnt do anything for the Kings excpet lead them to two horrible seasons

Lets not be unfair, everione can be a tough guy on team with good to great PK. The problem with Kings was PK, so rough and tough had to be used very carefully. Thornton has the problem with his overall skill. He just isnt the best in anything (he does well in fighting). He did surprized me when on ice with Kopitar and Brown, They had the cicle like last game some other game before, when opposition just couldnt take the puck away from them. He was a solid veteran, he is no goalscorer but we didnt expect him to be anyway.
If nothing else appreciate his mentorship towards the young guys. Last year at the Devils-Kings game Kopi asked him how to beat the Devil himself at shootouts and Thornton told him to use the trick he allways makes, and it worked.
Bottom line is he flew under the radar, but i bet he made a big positive effect to the Kings.
I wish Ill retire at his age. Happy retirement Scott.
Oh my god, that nearly made me cry. I will miss Thornie's heart & I'm sure he was also a great influence for the young guys in the locker room. I wish him all the best!
(psst, plus, he was hot!)
sorry, couldn't help that.
The Guppies fans at HP Pavillion gave him an amazing applause last week. Being one of the three Kings' fans there, I was on my feet as well. It was very classy... he smiled, waved, and actually seemed embarrassed.
Okay, no more nice things to say about sharks' fans... I met my quota!

Exactly! What's with all the LGK-Thornton love? (I see no sarcasm thingys...???)
He excelled elsewhere! He did next to diddly here. ??? What am I missing? He used to be a good fighter for other teams. So what?
The only upside to Thornton was that DL paid this UFA what he was worth: $1.5m. (Geez, you think he would've taken less?)
OT: Note to DL: $1.5m is an appropriate amount to pay stop-gap players. Anything over $2.5m is a bit much.
Actually, a few years ago when I heard a report that we were looking to get Thornton, being the optimist that I am I thought it was Joe Thornton. You know, the good one, Scott's cousin.
I don't wish ill on Thornton in any way, but let's not start talking about retiring his number yet, ok?
p.s. Maybe I'm just still just a little ****** off about missing the playoffs again (with little obvious help on the horizon for next season) - I don't know. Maybe in a week or after the long summer I'll realize his value to this team over the last 2 seasons.
I took my Thornton jersey off for probably the last time. I told my husband eariler that I was Thorntons number one fan, to which he responded "you're his only one fan."
I think I was his only fan in LA. I have so many memories of his ass kickings in Montreal and San Jose. I was glad he signed with LA. I knew he wasn't going to score a bunch of goals, but he should've been a good energy player and deliver beatings when necessary. I get the feeling he somehow got in Crawford's doghouse this season or was underappreciated by Crawford.
While we didn't see much of his grit while he was here, he did have a pretty solid NHL career. Good for him.
u are not alone he was my favourite player! i have made the video posted by ianmonsta have also another Scott Thornton The best hockey fighter 2.
hope he continues at least one year so he can get 1000 nhl games!
ill miss him...
