I talked to him last time we played him, and he would love to come here."
Blake, whose name has circulated in the rumour mill for almost a month now, clarified his position in an interview Friday. He said that at this juncture, he and Kings general manager Dean Lombardi had not spoken about the possibility of him waiving his own no-trade clause to go to a contender as a rental at the deadline.
"It's never been agreed that I'd waive my no-trade and I've never been approached about it," said Blake. "I don't know where that started, but I knew it would eventually creep in, given my situation."
However, Blake did not rule out the possibility of moving at the deadline, if Lombardi pitched the idea to him.
"I don't know how I'd approach it," said Blake. "My philosophy was to come back here and remain a King for the rest of my career. Unfortunately, when you get in last place, things do change. I haven't really sat down with Lombardi and spoke to him, but I'm sure that's something that will happen in the next little while — that we're going to sit down and discuss what the future holds.
"Obviously, you think about it, but until it happens, I don't know what I'd do in that situation."
If the team approaches you, that means they want to trade you, then you don't want to be part of that organization," he explained Friday after practice. "That's how I've always felt about my career and that hasn't changed, whether I have a no-trade clause or not."
So which is it Rob? You don't know where it started?????? How about your conversation with Chris Chelios????
Of course, Bruce Garrioch had to chime in....

I'm a whiney little bitch with no control over my emotions. So if the team ever dares to want to look to the future and move the veteran players like me for younger players, then I'll hate them like a 12 year old girl hates her BFF when she wears the same color lipstick.
Oh, and my mood changes as often as a 47 year old woman going through menopause so DEAL WITH IT!!!
I am pretty happy to read this actually. We all know DL will go to him and ask him to waive his NTC. And, in Blake's little mind this is the biggest insult of all time and he would never want to play for a team that hurt his wittle feelings like that.
So, it is a win/win for us.
If he waives his NTC, then we will get something good and Blake will never come back.
If he doesn't waive it, then he can finish this season under a chorus of "boo's: and he will not come back.
Anyway you look at it, this blight will not come back.
This d*ck is, by far, the biggest whiner in hockey today.
He's just clarifying that he will consider waiving the NTC to a team which he is willing to go. He might be sending out a hint that DL may want to pick his mind as to which teams he will waive the NTC for. He never said he will waive the NTC unconditionally anyway, just that he'd consider it.

What's the big deal? All he said is that he hasn't been approached by DL. that's not inconsistent with anything else that's been said.
That's the way I'm seeing it as well. Lombardi is shopping him to see what offers he gets and where he'd have to ask Blake to waive the NTC to go to...
No big deal here and it's going to be a looooooooong 5-weeks to the trade deadline if someone starts a new thread every time Blake wipes his ass...

Yeah, that's what I want my Captain doing...talking to the GM through the media. Don't go to him directly and tell him these things, talk to the media. This is EXACTLY what he did the last time.
If he were a good Captain, he wouldn't talk through the media. I can sort of understand it when he was younger. I didn't like it then but at least I can understand it coming from an immature 30 yr old. But he's supposed to have grown up since then...

But why do this in the media? Is Brad Richards doing this? Martin St. Louis?
What good does it do to be talking about this in the media?
