About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. This is actually the second thread about that particular quote, and there was already a discussion about that elsewhere. Wonder if it was Chelios screwing it up, or the reporter?

A little PR on his part. Making sure fans know that he doesn't want to be traded but is willing to "sacrifice" for the team.
But what he's really doing is playing games in the media. If he was really trying to send the message you're saying he would say "I love LA and I love playing in LA. I want to retire as a King, but I care about the future of this franchise and if it's in their best interest to trade me to a contender I'll be happy to do that."

But that's exactly the point...he doesn't NEED to answer. Or he could answer in a completely different way where it doesn't sound like he's trying to talk to the GM thru the media.
Yeah, that's what I want my Captain doing...talking to the GM through the media. Don't go to him directly and tell him these things, talk to the media. This is EXACTLY what he did the last time.
If he were a good Captain, he wouldn't talk through the media. I can sort of understand it when he was younger. I didn't like it then but at least I can understand it coming from an immature 30 yr old. But he's supposed to have grown up since then...
LOL. You never stop coming up with this non-sense do you? Someone asked the guy if he had been approached about a trade and he says no. WTF is wrong with that?
BTW, the reason Richards and St. Louis aren't asked these questions is because no one gives a damn.

But he didn't say "no".
He said to the Colorado media that IF DL came to him, he'd be open to it, and THEN he told Chelios he would mind playing for the Red Wings. Chelios doesn't strike me as a liar.
Dude, this is Los Angeles where the media doesn't give a crap, as opposed to say, Toronto, where everyone and their mother knows that Sundin is going to be traded to about 15 different teams.
What does Mats have to say about it?
NOT A DAMN THING!
Rob Flake has one interest and one interest only - to do what's best for Rob Flake

Has anyone considered the possibility that the media drama surrounding Blake is part of an orchestrated plan of which DL is fully aware and may actually be controlling? Sports are part of the entertainment industry - an industry in which things are often not as they seem. Deep seated fan hatred aside, I would wait for events to unfold before burning #4 at the stake.
I think we here at LGK need to stop speculating that Blake gets traded and then resigns with us, and that, that is the plan, cuz where i come from that can be misconstured as tampering, that's a no-no in the NHL.

No way. Players/GMs have NEVER manipulated the media in the history of professional sports. Furthermore, once an opposing GM reads that a player may consider waiving his NTC, the player in question's value goes straight through the floor. So essentially, Blake has ripped off and pissed on his "C" again.

Pretty sure it's not "tampering" to talk to an upcoming UFA under contract with you...
