Wayne Simmonds can throw em! I can definitely see him skating on the 3rd line next year
Simmonds will not be in the NHL next year unless he shows dramatic size improvement. I like his game, but he needs to get bigger before he's going to make it in the NHL.
That kneeing by Volchenkov didn't look intentional to me. I agree that it should have been a penalty, but I think you guys are overreacting.
As for him getting bounced around by the Sens all night, I think it just stems from a friendly sort of rivalry he has with Jason Spezza [ A former Mississauga Icedog who "ducked" out on The Dogs, cuz he didn't like losing].
-- Also, Patrick is just really annoying.

This is LA, we get no stink'n breaks with th refs.
Exactly. Until this team can establish themselves are playoff contenders they will continue to get ignored by the refs. That's the long and short of it all.
I mean even a guy like Phillipe Boucher...he was pretty rough too when needed, but hardly a fighter. Those two series against the Avs....just fantasict stuff...and Miller for those first few years he was here..this team truly was "tough to play against" under those first three andy murray years...but all those damn injuries...
I know exactly what you mean about the ducks. they'll rough up the other team just cuz they're in the same building...but they're also loaded with talent...
i noticed something about marc crawford and dean lombardi...a lot of times they'll refer to the team as "they" and not "we"...it almost seems like they're outside consultants brought in and not one of our own...i want to see marc crawford screaming at a ref and a coach when something stupid like that happens..i've seen it sometimes, but not so much the last little while...i know there's no hope for playoffs, but he needs to engrain that in this teams heads...no BS from anyone...and i mean clean revenge...not bertuzzi stuff

I'm with you on having to improve team toughness, but, for a young team, you have to make sure that they have the discipline ingrained to not let cheap shots waylay their game. No stupid penalties ever. Make sure you make the other team pay on the PP and look for your opportunities within the construct of your team game. No doubt they have to step it up and protect the skill players and I wasn't appreciative of the lack of team effort on that front earlier in the season.
At the same time, I can understand that Crawford put on the brakes with that stuff in an effort to bring it along slowly and place priorities on getting the players to gel focused on scoring and defense without emphasising toughness, because it can be a distraction to a team that doesn't know how to play together. That said, if the Kings don't hold other teams more accountable next season, DL and MC need to be called on it.
I think something that has been missed in this discussion is that Sully just isn't the weeny that he has been in the past. He will throw a few checks. He did last night. I think it is like getting checked by your little brother. It might hurt....but payback is a bitch.
Props to Sully for picking up that part of his game!
