The Flyers are talking with the Kings about acquiring one of their defensemen, Rob Blake or Brad Stuart. The Flyers likely would have to part with gritty winger Scottie Upshall as part of a package.
I don't know a ton about Upshall other than that he's a young, feisty hardworking player. He was taken pretty high in the draft (6th overall) and for some reason I thought I had overheard that his development thus far had been slightly disappointing considering how high he was picked, but I could have made that up. Can someone describe his play and what he's projected to be as a veteran? I'd appreciate it.
Upshall is too much for Stewart and not enough for Blake.
Eventually he'll be a pretty good third liner but since he was such a high pick he'll probably be forever overpaid. Good recommendation but wingers are not high on the list of King needs.
I still think that Stuart to Philadelphia is very possible. Brad Stuart for Kevin Marshall or Oksars Bartulis.
