Blake Out with an ankle
Rumors began to circulate as
Rumors began to circulate as early as yesterday afternoon that Rob Blake had suffered an injury and would miss the remainder of the Kings current road trip with the possibility of Peter Harrold being recalled from Manchester on an emergency recall.
Now we have official word: Blake is expected to miss two weeks due to an ankle injury. He suffered the injury (non displaced fracture) at Edmonton on Jan. 15 while blocking a shot and has played the last six games in discomfort. He returned to Los Angeles on Friday to receive proper treatment. He is likely to return to the ice upon completion of the team's current road trip.
...Monarchs All-Star defenseman Peter Harrold was called up by Los Angeles, yesterday and joined the team in New Jersey. Meanwhile, the Kings sent defenseman Kevin Dallman to the Monarchs for a three-game conditioning stint. Dallman had missed a month with a broken foot.
"Look, Dean, I'm only waiving this NTC if you give me a couple weeks to pack up and find a place to stay in _______, so call it what you want, but I'm too old and important to be getting on a plane and meeting up with my new team in some other city without a nice little break."
Dallman sent down for "conditioning".
Blake out possibly two weeks with "ankle injury"
Sounds like an AHL audition call before Deano pulls the trigger.
First Harrold then who? Is Petoit ready?
probably a no on Richard Petiot.
my guess is that by 'conditioning assignment' they mean conditioning assignment. Kevin would have to get his endurance up in order to play defenseman minutes so he goes to Manchester to log a ton of ice time in game situations... and without having to pass through waivers. he'll probably be the one recalled within a few days.
i think it's fairly evident that Rob CAN play through this injury, and play well. he's been very effective recently, but that injury will not get any better unless he stays off of it... and if Dean IS exploring a trade for him, he needs a healthy Rob Blake in a few weeks and not one with a questionable ankle injury.
