With a Recession Around The Corner, Where Does That Leave Your Los Angeles Kings?

Gas over 3 bucks looks like its here to stay

The economy sucks, housing is in shambles, the stock market is falling and despite your government putting a few bucks in your pocket this summer, it doesn't look to get better anytime soon.

Its been two straight seasons of (close to) last place hockey and next season may be a bit better, but the Kings are certainly not going to turn into the Red Wings overnight.

Hockey, and going to hockey games, is paid for by your EXTRA entertainment money.

We're all passionate fans and we certainly love to spend our entertainment dollars at Staples Center, but based on the direction of the economy, will you return next year? Will you cut your games in half? Maybe until the Kings are continuously making the playoffs?

Despite my bitching every season, I still love to get to the game early, spend a small fortune at the Fox Sports Bar and buy the latest jersey from some scrub who skated 1 or 2 games during the Dmitiri Khristich era, but if gas continues to climb and the jobs are paying less and less, I may just have to enjoy Bob Miller and Jim Fox a lot more than I would like.

Just curious as to where we stand here in Los Angeles.

Looking at the Detroit games, you can see how the economy is affecting fans of even the best team in the NHL. CBGB has a good reason to wonder what the future holds.

since i am young enough to still be living off my parents and have my mom pay for my gas, any extra money i do earn will continue to go towards Kings tickets.

once I am on my own though, I may have to cut back, though I will try everything I can to have enough extra money for games.

I'am spending my Bush Bucks on the Kings inc. for reals.

My season tickets are $500.
I park in a $7 lot when I have to pay for parking.
I might get a McFlurry or something for $3.
I think I've had... one beer at Staples this season.
I live 15 miles from my place to the parking lot, leaving gas at about $3 per game.
And I sit in 304 - I have a good time whether we win or lose.


So your idea of a game experience and my idea of a game experience... not quite the same. I'm a little more recession proof.

Shouldn't your biggest concern be that your job (casting / film production) will force you to move to Vancouver?

My seats are in the lower bowl. Last night was the first game of the season that I went to.

Yes I sold some at cost. Yes I gave some away to customers. Yes I sold some for under my cost.

I'm still gonna write that check come summertime.

My job ain't going anywhere, and I do most of my driving with a company car (that runs on CNG no less). I ain't too worried.

When I first came to Sweden in July I got 7.2 SEK for every 1 USD. Just last week when I got my new wire it was 5.3 SEK for every 1 USD.
