my question is: WHAT IS THE POINT OF BOOING HIM?
really. what do you hope to achieve? he's not gonna go waive his NTC and get traded. at MOST, he won't resign with the team.
basically, you're going to be the one booing a Kings player, the captain of the team, and a future hall-of-famer that can still perform at a high level who WANTS to come back to the Kings and contribute to the team's future.

the drones think that somehow Mr. Rob Blake, captain of the Los Angeles Kings, is more interested in himself and the money that he makes than any OTHER athlete is.
I applaud Blake for handling the situation the way he did this time.
The only reason I will be mad at Blake is because he didn't go to another Western Conference team that potentially could be playing the Ducks in the playoffs. Blake definetly adds experience to any team looking to contend and Blake could have been the piece that collectively put a team "over the hump" to beat Anaheim.
I won't boo Blake or have any hard feelings. I'll only be extremely disappointed watching Anaheim walk through team after team knowing that Blake could've provided some assistance to any one of those teams, and that a huge opportunity was missed by any of the teams Blake was interested in going to...

As fans, that's one of our few avenues in making our feelings known. I'm not sure that Blake will ever understand how the fans feel about him - at best, some fans are ambivalent about him, while a good many still dislike/loathe him.
His refusal to waive his NTC, except to the one place that he likes and only if his ego isn't stroked by his estimation of an adequate return, rankles the hell out of me - his "wrath" comment didn't help matters.
He could improve the Kings' team by going away, getting us a draft pick in return, and then signing back here as an UFA if he so wishes. Had he done that, I (and all the other fans that I talk with) would cheer for him appreciatively, whether he came back to the Staples Center as an opposing player, or one of ours next year - for once, Blake would have put the interests of the team ahead of his own.
I, for one, will boo the hell out of Blake because that's the way I feel about it. You can cheer - if that's the way you feel about it.
I won't boo at Staples because that's not my thing and despite my feelings that he should have waived the NTC with only minor conditions attaached to it, he was exercising a negotiated right. I will however Boo him in the privacy of my own home the next time he says some **** about having the teams interest at heart etc. because we all know that is crap.
Nobody should ever blame a player for not waiving his NTC. If you want to point fingers... blame the bonehead GM who signed him to a deal with a NTC -- KNOWING he may end up dumping him for picks in the future. Blake is a type of player that does his own thing and can be effective on any team pretty much. He is an ideal rental player for a cup run and all the GMs know it. Lombardi knows this and yet he chose to give him the NTC.
I really think the only fans that boo Blake are the fantasy jockey armchair gm douchenuts that represent the 0.02% of the fanbase obsessive enough to post daily on messageboards about their favorite team in a sport they've never played...extrapolating that bizarre cross-section to some general consensus of Kings fans' behavior is right up there with the stupidest things you'll read here.
Wow, another Blake thread...or should I say rethread...
Booing Flake sends a message to management that having him on the team (whether on the ice or in the office) will not serve as a positive PR move. That's the message I want to send.
I wouldn't boo blake simply for not waiving his NTC. I boo blake for the hypocrisy of saying he wants what's best for the team, when that is clearly not the case.
Blake wants to retire as a King. Have any of you asked yourselves why? Do you really think it's because of his "love" for the organization, or so he can continue drawing a paycheck while living on the strand?
Blake looks out for numero uno....we have seen it time and again. Is this such a bad thing? No. Just don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
I will reiterate my sentiment: I hope the team turns its back on him the way he's (repeatedly) turned his back on the team.
