His decision was disappointing and bad for the team, but also understandable. He wants to stay in L.A. for personal reasons and that's fine - that's why he negotiated the NTC. It would be nice if he left his home & family and worked his ass off for a couple months for no additional pay so the Kings could get a draft pick, etc. But you can't exactly expect him to do it.
The only thing that I can blame him for is being full of ***** when he has said things to the effect that he wants to stay because he's committed to the Kings and wants to help them. If he was just honest about it and said that he wants to stay in L.A. for personal reasons, I'd respect him a lot more.

I think its quite simple. You boo because you do not support the guy. If he was a real team player, he wouldn't be a king right now. If he wanted to earn the respect of fans, he would have accepted ANY trade and let DL deal him. He obviously doesn't care about the future of the franchise. If he did, he wouldn't be so greedy. This act, coupled with requesting the trade in '01, leaves me with no respect for Blake. He really only cares for himself.
Why do we have to respect him???? I have ZERO respect for that selfish, lying "I just wanna do what's best for the organization" prick.
what he is a prick b/c he didn't want to get traded from draft picks? if he did we all know he'd be back at the end of the season. a move like that is almost as bad as forsberg or selanne IMO He loves this team and is setting an example for the young kids to not run away when things get bad. he is a captain who wants to go down with his ship. I respect that. Blake has done more for this team than you ever will so stop your bitching and respect the man.

As a person I dont know him (looks around for personal friends that might jump down my throat like in the Army thread...), but as a player I dont think we have to respect **** if we dont like it. I personally am not on the hate Blake bandwagon over the TMC thing, because why the **** should a player waive something they felt so strongly about they negotiated it into the contract? The sole purpose for a NTC/TMC is for security. Screw it whether you think it was a mistake by DL. Just because players make more money than you doesnt make them exempt from being human. You wouldnt be happy with the idea of being forced to uproot your family at a moments notice and move them states away, so I dont understand you people that think a player should be OK with the same. I still have plenty of sour taste in the back of my gullet over 2001. Enough to pray to Jobu that #4 isn't lifted to the rafters anytime soon. However, even I can see through that long enough to know that in this situation Blake was damned if he did and damned if he didnt, but either way he's damned nothing in the free world says I gotta respect the guy.

No, he's a prick because he always has to go and talk to the media and say bull****. This time it was "I want to do whatever it takes to help the team" which he OBVIOUSLY didn't do. And he wasn't getting traded for "just draft picks" as you can see by the returns that Foote and Campbell got. A first or a first + good player is hardly "just picks". He doesn't want to "go down with the ship", he wants to go surf.
What the hell has he done to make me have to respect him? He got a fat salary for the past 2 years and the least he could have done was to go away for a couple months.
