And everytime a team dumps a player in mid-season (that they'd signed as a free agent before) it hurts that team's rep in attracting future free agents.
This is one of the best threads this season. Dr. with his great logic vs some with not so good logic. About Thronton, are people forgetting he had a NTC and was only willing to go to his choice of 1 team? Noone knew that until after the deadline. This tells that those who think they know what's going on behind closed doors are misguided.
Relative value. Sure they could have been traded. Lombardi said as much... but whatever was being offered for them wasn't worth it.
The argument is that getting ANYTHING for them would be better than letting them walk.
My rebuttal is that their value on the roster right now is greater than the value of what ever they would have brought in a trade.
The fact that they weren't traded lends credibility to my argument.
I agree with you here. The way I read the original post didn't come off that way to me. It came off like you were saying the only reason he didn't make a trade was because he needed bodies to fill the roster.
