I think it's hilarious the way people are afraid of MAF because of his age and development while we are will to put all our apples in the Bernier basket before he has played a full season. Goaltending is an issue and has been for a while. MAF may only be 23 but he is 23 and taking the Pens to the finals. I would make sure he had some competent D in front of him and make an offer.
To be fair, most of the posts in this thread were from February, way before the playoffs. And as a hypothetical, what honestly would have happened if Ty Conklin had not gone on that 10 game tear?
MAF is a good goalie and he's young. The team in front of him is playing extremely well though, let's not discount that. I think a lot more people would be wiling to tend an offer to him at this point, but now it's going to take more money and more picks (considering how well he's played lately).

hypothetical for sure... but lets look at another. one particularly germane to several of the post(ers) which chose to compare Fleury to Jason LaBarbera.
suppose Fleury never got hurt this season?
my original pitch was made despite the fact that he was unavailable for nearly 30-games this season due to a bad ankle injury he suffered at the beginning of December... he didn't return until the beginning of February.
the contrarians specifically chose to look at nothing other than numbers.

...and for the numbers people, Fleury is 26-3-1 since returning from the high ankle sprain.
oh that's right... they'd only be eligible to tender an offer sheet after the draft, right?
if that is indeed the case, i'd definitely consider it.
I agree, the Kings get to use all of their picks in this draft which should take care of the depth problem. Then they will have 2 first rounder goalies. The cap hit is really not that big for a proven starting goalie in MAF. DL also said in the XM interview that he wants strong competition between his goalies. Then you have to consider what they might get back for Cammi, because he is all but gone IMO. Do it Deano!
