PETER HARROLD AND FORWARD MATT MOULSON TO MANCHESTER (AHL)
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have assigned defenseman Peter Harrold and forward Matt Moulson to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League (AHL), Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Harrold, 24, has one point (0-1=1) and zero penalty minutes in five games with the Kings this season. With the Monarchs, he has 39 points (7-32=39) and 21 penalty minutes in 45 games this season. His 32 assists rank first amongst defensemen in the AHL and his 39 points are tied for second amongst blue-liners in the circuit. Harrold, who represented the Monarchs at last month’s AHL All-Star Classic, is a 5-11, 195-pound native of Kirtland Hills, Ohio. He has played in 17 career NHL games – all with the Kings – and has three points (0-3=3) and eight penalty minutes. Harrold was originally signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on April 12, 2006.
Moulson, 24, has played in 22 games with the Kings this season and has nine points (5-4=9) and four penalty minutes. With the Monarchs, he has played in 30 games this season and has 32 points (17-15=32) and 15 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 210-pound Moulson, who was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the ninth-round (263rd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on September 1, 2006. The native of North York, Ontario, made his NHL/Kings debut at San Jose on November 2, 2007.
The Kings return to action when they host Calgary at STAPLES Center on Friday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m. The game will air on FSN West, KTLK AM 1150 and on the Kings Radio Network. Scheduled for Sunday, February 24, from 5 – 10 p.m. at famous Universal Studios Hollywood, all players, coaches and broadcasters will be on hand to receive a $1 “tip” for an autograph and/or a $2 “tip” for a photograph from their fans. All proceeds benefit the Kings Care Foundation, the club’s award winning non-profit organization that provides educational and recreational opportunities for children throughout Greater Los Angeles.
I think Moulson will be on the squad next year. I'm sure that they sent him down with specific things to work on like they did with O'Sullivan and they want to see how he responds.
Blake's definitely back as per previous reports. Probably Nagy as well. Unlike O'Sully, who the Kings were a little critical of last year, Purcell and Moulson got raves. I'm sure they have plenty to work on, however, work ethic does not seem to be one of them.
