I didn't see any Harrold appreciation threads so I figure I start one since I think he deserves it. Didn't see much of the NJ game but according to Crawford, He and JJ were the best defenseman that night. But yea, I thought he was one of the better D tonight against the Rangers. He broke up a crucial 2 one 1, he flew back to get an icing call, and other than that he did a lot of things above average tonight. I think we have a very versatile D-guy in Harrold. His stint last year was impressive, but this year there's more steadiness to his game. Kid's got some wheels!
Agree 100%. Harrold played a very solid game against the rags. Positioning and skating were up to par and as mentioned elsewhere, manchester players that have been filling in have seemingly not been stunned to nhl play. keep up the good play boys!
We're going to miss him out here in Manchester. He was definitely our best defenseman. Always smart on the blueline and the first one back in the zone. He's not very big, but plays like he is. I don't see him coming back soon. Maybe at least the playoffs (crossing my fingers).
Definitely need some younger blood on the blueline. I remember management being pretty happy with Harrold and the way he played last season, so I'm expecting for him to make a strong push for a regular roster spot this summer. If he can keep playing the way he has been for the last couple games, he could very well do it this season.
The Brad Stuart signing was a measured risk. If he returns to the player he was a couple years ago, then you give yourself a good chance of re-signing him for a longer term. If not, then he's trade bait or he walks away this summer. Stuart didn't have to be the shutdown defenseman here, and it's taken him a little time, but he's really showing some confidence and tenacity right now. If he can keep that up, Stuart is a player I'd like to see re-signed. Yes, he has improved his trade value, but keep in mind the possibility that the Kings could lose Modry, Blake and Stuart this summer, and you'd have to deal with more dman pairing experiments next season. Remember DL's dman formula: two veterans, two players in their prime and two kids. Blake, Stuart, Visnovsky, Preissing, Johnson and Harrold fit that formula (so that does leave Modry out of the mix, unless Stuart or Blake don't come back). I'd prefer an upgrade somewhere in there, but that's not too shabby for a team starting an upswing next season.
