I was on the way home and listening to the NY broadcast via XM in the car when the announcers said "The Kings are not the worst team in the league by far, they just got stuck in a very tough division in a very touch conference."
It makes you wonder where we would be in another division.
I think from January on, we'll see what the Kings were suppose to look like. They are clicking and playing decent defense. Sure we won't make the playoffs, but its nice to see improvements as the season ends instead of starting strong and ending weak.
This is why I don't think "cleaning house" and trading all the players away is such a good idea. These players are finally playing well. Now we give them away and bring in new ones to struggle through the beginning of the season again?
I'm hoping Barbs can get more consistent. He's been playing a very good 08 so far and hopefully an upgraded defense can help him out next year. The Defense def. needs to shore up in order to give Berns some confidence when he's #1.
I have to tag on here that I listened to 1050AM ("Ranger Radio") on the way home from class and they were VERY complimentary (sp?) of the team. They raved about Kopitar and called him the best player in the NHL that no one is talking about. They said that if the Kings were in the east they would be fighting for a playoff spot (not so sure about that but I'll take the compliment). They talked alot about the good core of kids and how well they are starting to develop. Also, they actually said, and yes I'm serious... the best line playing right now... Kopitar Frolov and O'Sullivan. They didn't say best line in the game (although that would make mroe sense cause I'm sure Crawford will rip them apart and throw them with someone else next game).. they said best line period. Maybe they were just trying to ease the burden of the Rangers dropping two points they needed, but they really did gush a bit.
