if Scott DOES opt to play in the All Star game i will lose even MORE respect for him than i have already in the last few months... this was a player who i once thought epitomized character, and know i just think is a f***ing dick.
Concur.
Just wait until another AS selected player gets injured and they select Selanne as a replacement...
dude came in, no training camp and ice cold after a 6 month layoff and is only 3 points behind your examples. I think that says a lot on it's own. Like I said, talent wise it's no contest. Accomplishment wise, it's no contest in the other direction.
ice cold my ass... he's young and talented and under contract with the best defensive team in the National Hockey League. all he had to do was stay in shape... would he have displayed an equitable performance over those 17 games with a team like Los Angeles?

If the fans had voted him in as a starter I'd understand the sour grapes but it was the coaches that picked him. Doesn't that say something? I figure it would at least say enough to keep people from getting all bent over it.
visualizing "talent" is subjective, and "talent" gets the votes. Scott was NOT on the ballot and therefore not eligible to be picked by the public based on talent. the remaining roster players are to be picked by the coaches and are generally those players who did not or would not get the requisite votes for automatic selection and are instead chosen by the merits of their performance during the first half of the season.

Que sera, sera. It isnt' as if the All-Star game is all that important anyway.
then Scott should man up, show some class and decline his invitation to the game because he did not earn the privilege... it MAY be important to the players.
and if it isn't that important, why snark about the what for Roberto Luongo gave for his choice to skip the game altogther?

You can't be serious man. Staying in shape and being game ready are two entirely different things. Also, if Scott Niedermayer was on the Los Angeles Kings he'd turn LA's season around plain and simple. Pair Jack Johnson with him and Johnson would be even better.

I removed this portion of your paragraph from the rest of it because it pretty much explains why Scott was picked. Since he missed the first part of the season there was no way he would receive the requisite votes so the coaches did what they felt was right. Agree or disagree it's all on them. My point was that nobody else was to blame. This one can't be pinned on idiot fans stuffing a ballot box. Anyone has a gripe...take it up with Babcock and company.

He probably will just give him time. This was announced what? A few hours ago?

It isn't that important but if a player is picked I personally think they should play. Niedermayer is different because he was picked by the coaches so a respectful no thank you won't offend too many people. On the other hand Luongo was voted in by the fans. Since it's the "fan's game" it would be nice for him to accept the honor. Also, I harped on him because I personally felt his reason for not playing was a bit weak. After learning that his wife is having a difficult pregnancy I changed my mind.
