This especially goes for Preissing and Stuart. That first goal, Preissing was staring at the puck. The rule is, as I had always learned it, if the puck carrier loses control of the puck, and is staring down at it, and you don't have control, put him on his ass. Don't swat at the puck, and definitely don't the skater go around you while you are swatting at the loose puck. I have yet to see Preissing obey that rule yet this year.
And then the third goal, same thing goes for Stuart. You've got a guy in your freaking crease, trying to get his stick on the puck. What do you do? Surely not playing goaltender, thereby blocking Barbs from getting back over to cover that post. You clear out the crease and put the dude on his ass. But no. You did exactly what I said you shouldn't do, and they scored.
Out of the eight asst. coaches they have, who is the Kings defensive coach this year? He needs to get a boot in his ass.

I was going to post the same thing, but Stuart was pretty physical, especially in the 3rd. If priessing would have put his purse down and just but a little bit of body on Daytsuk , there is no way he gets that pass over to Holmstrom, and you may have seen a totaly different game.
Not only should we take the body ( God help us), we should also learn to stand in front of the opponents net when we are shooting at it, so we could, I don't know, screen, deflect, score, all of the above?

Given our track record, seems like we do stand in front of the net, only problems is we hit our own players in the face or body with puck.
I too am tired of the players always trying to be the goaltender. Go after the freakin man and let the goaltender worry about the puck, thats his job! Seriously, I think Crawford need to start instituting a time-out system for players that have a mental lapse and make stupid mistakes that they teach you in juniors. He just needs a draw a circle on the glass behind the bench and make that player hold their nose to the spot for 5 min and think about what they did!
Preissing is such a disapointment. Comming from the Senators I was expecteing more. You need 3 stay at home types and 3 skater types. Because the game is open more now you may be able to get away with more skating types than stay at home types. The bottom line though you got to use the body. Preissing played like a woman on thet first goal. That was crushing. Crawford should have come down harder on him.
One note, Why is Dave Lewis up on the bench coaching the forwards? He did play defense for the Islanders and Kings. He was even the Kings captain. Mike Johnston coaches the defensemen in the game. I didnt even play in the NHL. He is best known for being a career coach and writing a book. about hockey. Something to think about.
But failed to clear the guy who scored out of the crease, because he was thinking "puck" not "man."
Johan Franzen didn't earn his namename "Moose" by accident. He and Tomas Holmstrom are incredibly difficult to move from the front of the net. They are taught very well how to plant themselves there, and Franzen made a great play with the puck just to put it in the net.
You could get mad at Stuart, you could also get mad at Labarbara for COMPLETELY overplaying the puck and being about 6 feet out of position, allowing for that side of the net to be wide open in the first place.
It's a team game.
Oh, by the way, yes, Preissing needed to take the body on Datsyuk...so does the rest of the NHL, who try and fail badly about 95% of the time. There is a reason why he is one of the best one on one players in the NHL. I'm not making excuses for him, but even he best get beat every game by Datsyuk. Despite that...Preissing has been horrific.
