From the majority of responses it seems I'm in the minority with the way I feel about the glowing boards, but that's fine with me. I just wanted to see what the rest of you were thinking about it and get something done if anyone was like-minded about it. I still say it's a distraction. I'll just have to wait and see what the response on this site ends up being if they do install them at Staples Center.
I noticed them at the earlier in the season and thought oh those are different and went on watching the game. I don't notice them unless the cameras show them when play has stopped. I don't see how these could be that much of a distraction for anyone. They are just like the normal signs to me. I noticed those only when play stops.
they're really only a problem when you're either looking for them or they are skating coast to coast along side the far boards, its really not a big deal and probably bring in the revenue of three ads in one space
PHX is also home of 'line dancing' contests between periods and Mullet night! I wouldn't have beleived it if I hadn't seen it last year while working in PHX and went to some games there.
Fricking mullet night? Oh yea, Billy Ray Cyrus was the judge.
Besides, why do companies invest in such advertisements? I hardly can recognize any ads displayed on these boards. I can imagine it's not really useful when viewers have to guess which advertisement is showed.
