The Saturday games are an agreement with The Lakers & Clippers and has nothing to do with anyone in the NHL. I remember reading about this. The agreement allows The Kings to schedule the majority of their Saturday night games in the early part of the season before The Lakers and Clippers' seasons begin or one or both teams are on the road or play afternoon games. Then, in January, February and March is when the evening games are usually reserved for basketball.
The main reason that the Kings play more games this season than any other team is BECAUSE of the 1:00 Saturday starts...the All Star game is only a technicality...if you consider playing Anaheim technical.
Don't sweat it...
Next Season, they'll play less than everyone else and start the games at 2:00
