I'm sure he could be had, but I would hope that DL would go after either D prospects or a roster Dman from a trading partner. I like what is in the pipeling with Bernier, Zatkoff, Taylor. The weakest part of the organization's depth is at the blueline, especially physical Dmen. DL needs to fill that void along with a top 2 center to compliment Kopitar.

Agree - I want someone to compete with Bernier in the future that isnt too young - Like a veteran come in to push him and as a very capable back-up

So Id rather have Staal or Bobby Sangs

He will likely be ready to play in the NHL next year giving us a possible solid goalie tandem while Bernier and Zatkof are still developing.

Yes, this is actually very true. And also very nice...

We have Montoya & JLB. You KNOW what that means, IF our D steps it up.
Bernier gets a year in the AHL. Nice, too.
After that, either Montoya or JLB are hopefully good enough for playoffs, we could trade one of 'em, and get Bernier up to check his ability and maybe share the #1 job.

For the life of me I can't figure out what the hell the Kings would want with Al Montoya. The Kings have 'tenders up the ying yang and having Montoya around would only clog things up even more. And who's to say that he is any better than our lot on hand and coming up thru the 'farm system'. And besides he's the backup goalie the Rangers have in mind to give HLundqvist the occasional breather. So the logic here is a bit skewed...The Kings have...all you loyal King's fans know we have a plethora of 'tenders...Our focus with trades should be Rock'em Sock'em D-men and a second line Centreman...That's it that's all... and depth galore...

The Kings need another solid goalie for next season. The kids are the farm are gonna be on the farm for awhile. Montoya is ready now.

If DL doesn't think Bernier is ready for duty this next season, he will pull the trigger on a Veteran Goalie at the trade deadline, or more than likely, during the summer.

Stay-at-home D and a second-line center. A backup goalie can most likely be gotten in the summer.
