Since Cliche returned from his broken foot he's done just fine.
So much youth and inexperience in the professional ranks, coupled with playing against teams with much older, more seasoned players pretty much insures a first round exit.
So my point was incredibly valid, thank you.
I'm not disagreeing with you - the task is monumental, but the willingness to prove you belong in the NHL can be a powerful motivator. Bernier is the wild card.
It's not unprecedented for a young team to get to the Calder Cup finals:
Just getting to the playoffs is a great accomplishment for such a young team. I'm sure a lot of people thought the Monarchs had no shot at the playoffs this year without veteran leaders, but here they are.

obviously it's possible, but incredibly unlikely.
concur about Bernier being the wildcard, xfactor, what have you.
is TR in net for providence, or still hurt or whatever?
Isnt he exempt from the stupid age rule because he is a Euro? I thought I read that that rule only applies to NA born players.
It's not where you were born, but what team you were playing for at the time you were drafted. In Moller's case it was with the Chilliwack Bruins of the WHL so he falls under the CHL rules regarding eligibility to play in the AHL.
I was flipping through the CBA for the "stupid age rule" and it looks like it's not a definitive "if you're under 20 you can't be in the AHL" rule. It appears you actually can play in the AHL as a 18/19 year old player, but it's just that you have to run it by the prospect's junior team first before you can assign them to the AHL.
For example, Oscar Moller at age 19 could be sent to Manchester as long as we offered him to the Chilliwack Bruins first. If they decided for whatever reason that they didn't want him the Kings could assign him to the Monarchs.
So it looks like it's not impossible, just improbable. A team isn't going to be keen on losing a talented prospect to the pros early, especially when they have a say in if it happens or not.
