Modry 51 GP 6 Pts. -4 34 PIM Shooting % 3.7
Blake 52 GP 25 Pts. -13 80 PIM Shooting % 3.4
Visnovsky 52 GP 29 pts. -17 16 PIM Shooting % 5.4

Johnson 52 GP 8 Pts. -12 46 PIM Shooting % 3.7
And Modry is playing this year with his father dying. He went back to the Czech Republic and missed almost no time b/c his father told him he would rather see his son play than stay by his side. This guy is solid. I get we don't agree but my take is based on this year's play - no more and no less.
As for my take on LaBarbera, I readily admit I am a fan of his and have been for awhile. The only way to know if he is a top 15 netminder would be to see him with a team in front of him who was at least trying to provide something called forechecking and defensive minded play on a regular basis.
I listened to the Flyers' feed on Tuesday and their commentators applauded the Kings for keeping him in their system and that the Kings would have a solid netminder for years as a result. He is playing to keep this job and absent a rib injury he came back far too early from, his stats would be even better than they are..... and does it on a last place team.
Are you f'ing insane?!
It's blasphemous on this board to think about the Kings developing a goalie and/or keeping him in the system long enough and/or giving him the CHANCE to prove himself. Even if the Kings are in position to be able to give him chances he deserves, some people here will still say that we should have signed Luongo, that we should make a trade for a "#1" as soon as possible, that JLB isn't good enough for this team, that HE is the one to give the team a chance to win even if they play HORRIBLY in their D-zone, that 'Buling and Emery would be an upgrade over him etc. etc. etc.
Don't forget about the great desire for another Huet-like situation. Looks like some of the "Kings fans" want that it happens again.
It's indescribable...
And as for Modry...for me, he's a hero, and only based on his family situation. And add to that that he really plays a solid game...

I hear you. Opinions are opinions and we all get to have one. Sometimes I do look at players more from emotion than something objective. With LaBarbera, last season I wanted him to stay up and if he had, it is entirely possible he would be gone since Jason wasn't the professional last year that he is this year.

He is a class act. Perhaps those who don't like Modry feel that way due to his prior stint with the team. Because if it is based upon this year, I don't get it.
Even Nick Nickson told someone on Kings Talk a few weeks back to back off of Modry... something along the lines of "he isn't going to be that punishing physical defender that you fans think a NHL defender should be...."
He hasn't been noticable... which is good. The peeps in Sec. 326 at Staples boo him, but for what cause? They dont boo Visnovsky when he gives up the puck and the other team scores...
Plus, the stats say he's the D man with the highest +/- at -4... Rob Blake said earlier this year that that's how you should rate a defenseman.
DL wants to suddenly trade Modry (not only because most of us fans hate Modry) but it is because DL thinks he can get more in return for Modry's pretty solid season he is having now.
