About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. From a blog I frequent.. .obviously the name should ring a bell with Daily News blog readers... pretty sad how he was treated.

I mean, it's a shame, but lets face it, if you're in the newspaper world in this day and age, this kind of thing has to be anticipated. Hell, did you hear the NPR article on Sam Zell and the Tribune Company yesterday?
This is the reality of the newspaper business; its ****ed.
If you're in it and DON'T know that, I don't know what to tell you. Thank all the amateur "journalists" and their "blogs" for taking food out of your kids mouth.
I wish Kredell all the best, he did a decent job with the Inside the Kings Blog after Hammond left. One point of contention though, it seems that Paul Oberjuerge is trying to give Kredell a little too much credit for the success of Hammond's Blog. I'm not saying he deserved to be laid off and judging by his story he did get royally screwed, I just don't think he deserves all the credit for the success of Inside the Kings.

Very sad what happened to him and interesting to know the full story now. I know most King's fans were glad to have Hammond back, and most of us can agree that Hammond is better on King's updates and such, though Kredell gave really good interviews, but this is just terrible what they did to him. It is the way of the world and everything and they have the right to do it but it is just plain evil to give the guy a raise, tell him his job is secure, promote him to full-time, and then abruptly lay him off. They certainly aren't helping their image or ability to hire new writers with that kind of management. Lucky that Hammond got promoted so high, though I don't know how he can stand working for them.

I wish Matt the best and hope he finds an even better position. In the interim, I would suggest that he either learn to check what he writes, brush up on grammar, or use Word to write his articles to help him with his grammatical mistakes. I may be picky, but I hate seeing the media adding to the demise of the English language.
That's what happens in corporate America. It's a business and needs to make money otherwise everyone is laid off. There is no such thing as job security anymore, I don't care what you do or where you work. Disney laid off it's animation department! Figure that one out.
Save your pennies kids, have an emergency fund and stay outta debt so getting laid off doesn't **** ya at the drive thru.

I will take that into consideration. Thanks for the tip...
