After my last post trying to explain the difference between rebuilding process and semi-crappy-barely-playoff-with-no-upside situation, I thought about how much our assets are really worth. How happy can you make the whiners on the forum?

Make the best team possible for 2008/09 season, that's the only season important to them. Obviously we will not have a first round pick in 2008 after your trades and guys like JMFJ and Bernier would definitely need to be traded. Also you shouldn't care about cap hell for 2009/10 season, just let Kopitar go after the next season... if he'd be a King in 2008/09 at all?

Interesting, because people have been saying, I'm so happy lately, that they think I might be sick or something.

But you are correct, that people advocating a Playoff Push for next season, are keeping my super-insane happiness level down a bit - just under the maximum level.

BTW, I would keep these players, because their contracts are good (or I can't see getting much in return):
Brown, Kopitar, Frolov, Cammalleri, Sully (depends on the new number), Ivanans

Trade away:
Everbody else, starting with JMFJ, whole Manchester team (just shut down the organization, we don't need a damn AHL club!), Bernier, all prospects that don't make the NHL team - and get rid of all 2008 AND 2009 draft picks.

Can't decide what to do with:
goalies (need one of them as #2), Visnovsky (his trade value is low)

To be honest I'm not even sure what to do with Kopitar. I think that his trade value might be better than his output in next season? It's just that damn low entry level contract, that made him a keeper - as a second line center, of course.

Obviously some of the other players would be kept as well (Purcell, a couple of dmen?) - we need fillers for our super 2008/09 team. Forget the rebuilding plan.
