I guess you're right. Fortuneately for J-schools & their students, the newspaper industry is healthy and growing, so attention to detail is a luxury that can be discarded. I'm sure inattentiveness to punctuation can't possibly lead to inattentiveness in collecting accurate quotes & facts, and synthesizing same into coherent articles .... I'm sure of it.
yup. he got me. because i don't teach my students that they have to pay attention to detail. spelling, punctuation and grammar are a waste of their time. in fact, i strongly encourage them to mimic everything i do on a website wherein i discuss whether dan cloutier is a has-been a**hole, or just a whiny douchebag. because that's the cornerstone of every successful career in the news business.
(do i need to attach a stupid smiley face to this or type [/sarcasm] for everyone to get that i'm not serious? do people really need to be spoonfed to such an extent?)
the state of journalism has nothing to do with whether i capitalize on this bbs. bbo knows this, and he also knows i was kidding.

Well, truth is, BBO eventually figured this out, after he took his head out of his a$$ (i.e., had his morning cup of coffee). But it all seemed like a perfectly typical LGK-type rant upon a 1st cursory reading.
