next year is the beginning of visnovsky's new five year contract. he will make $7 million next year and the following year. we all know he has had a terrible year, which makes the prospect of paying him 14 million over the next two years and $28 million over the next 5 years potentially about as pleasant as a kick in the groin or a punch in the boob. there are signs of hope however. over the last few games, (ok maybe not the last one) he appears to be picking up his game, actually getting shots through traffic, and has been playing adequately on d. he still remains one of the kings top scorers and their top offensive d-man. the two years prior to this season, were also very good for lubo. and this season marks the first full season in which he has been a minus player (albeit a whopping -18). so, is this season merely an aberration and he turns it around and has a solid season next year, or does his salary become an albatross and we pray for year five of his contract?
Obviously Lubo needs to be paired with a solid D man who only plays D. The fact that the goal tending is terrible has alot to do with his play. Solidify the goal tending and Lubo becomes one of the top offensive d-men in the game. I think Lubo as well as Jack Johnson need to be able to freeplay and be more creative next year.
I firmly believe a major (not the only, but major) part of the problem was his long-term pairing with Rob Blake. He's had to spend so much time and expend so much energy covering for Blake, that his mental focus has been off.
Pair him with a solid defenseman next year, and watch his play dramatically improve.

I think we've already seen it improve playing with Harold.
Lubo is making $5.6 million next year. End of discussion, this season hes only making $1.824! Why try when your team is rebuilding, and your paired with a plastic hip, sorry Blakey!

That's un-****ing-fair to the goaltenders. You can't have a defense leave a goaltender out to dry and expect him to stop ever shot possible. Sure there have been a few soft goals this year, like the recent one on Ersberg, but those will happen from time to time.
The problem is that we don't have any big, nasty defensemen to clear the crease and get other players to stay the **** away from our goalies and get them a clear view of the shot.
