I was watching the game tonight and everyone pretty much played horrible. One thing that got me angry though was the fact that Jack Johnson laid someone out and ran away from the conflict. After that Colorado was throwing bodies at everyone from Kopitar to Frolov to Sully. His instigating will get someone valuable hurt. Johnson is at the point where he needs to fill his roll and be able to stand up to the repercussions that result from his hits. Lose the visor and drop the gloves. Blake is the only one willing to get his hands dirty on the team. Everyone else is that jackass on the school yard who talks big but won't act. I started liking Johnson this year but let's be honest, since he started getting more ice time, he hasn't been the same. Turnover after turnover and missing big scoring chances. Give him the bench for a game. Boyle has been more productive since he was moved up. Why are we punishing the wrong players?
Flame away.

Johnson threw down twice last season and that was in the first 5 NHL games he played. Does he really need Blake to step in and calm things down? Made us look like a bunch of pussies. It was a pathetic night all around for the team. Cloutier is the odd exception.

That is completely wrong. Jack had his gloves off ready to go, and looked pretty bewildered that Rob Blake jumped in there. Part of me wanted to see Rob let the kid fend for himself, but in the end I think it was an absolutely staunch move. If Jack hits somebody and they want to challenge him on the spot, let it happen. But in this case you have a veteran fighter in Lappy looking to come in and make an example of a rookie. This was a CLEAN HIT. Rob Blake stepping in there sent the message that there would be no goon on rookie retribution for a clean hit. It was staunch. If anything they should have gone after Klemm.

I'm sick of seeing this argument. Last time it was Cammy is the only one sticking up for Kopitar, or Thornton is the only one, or Ivanans is the only one...
Brown showed last week that he will face the music, and people still bitched. Johnson was willing to go. Just enjoy the fact that Rob Blake gave you exactly what you want the veterans on this team to do.
Jack backed off to take off his helmet. He was ready to fight but he pointed at his mask and was taking it off when Blake jumped in... I was sitting about 10 rows away and it looked like Blake thought Jack was backing off so he stepped in. I think if he saw that JJ was reacihing for the buckle on his helmet, he might have let them go....
Are you sure you aren't drunk Bandit? In the scrum right after the hit Jack had his gloves off. When Lappy challenged him, he dropped the gloves, was taking his helmet off and was ready to go, Blake just decided he didn't want it to happen. What more do want from him?
Although I don't think Boyle being sent down was a punishment, although I am extremely confused why he isn't back up. Klemm is here, but all the kids who could use some (more) NHL experience are just down in Manchester?
Edit:
Now that someone mentions it, that definitely looks like sarcasm. Damn you bandit, you got me.
