i cannot wait for the LGK backlash against bandwagon fans when the kings are competitive! nor can i wait for a trade that yields us next year's lottery-winning 1st-rounder while we're making a playoff run! DARLINGS the kings will be! bandwagon jumpers we will attack mercilessly here! everything will become a pissing contest about who's been a fan the longest and through the darkest period in the team's history! dilute dilute dilute! we are all children on the yhwh-jehovah-allah spaceship earth! all for one! love your neighbor! use only two cosmetics: enough sleep and dr bronner's all natural organic soap!
If you seriously believe this you are out of your mind. what in the last 15 years have the kings done to make you believe this in any way? in 4 seasons i predict the kings will end up 10th in the west with 84 points. thats about it.
If you really believe this drivel you should move from Long Beach immediately. You are dragging down the average intelligence of my home town. (Too bad there's no "half-wink" smiley.)

I would love for the kings to win a cup soon and hopefully many of them but as it stands i dont see that happening anytime soon.
Have you listened to Lombardi explain his philosophy in any of the many forums in which he has done so. He develops young players in the minors where they can build a solid technical foundation which will make them more able to succeed when the do get their chance at the NHL, instead of bringing them up too soon and letting them lose all their cvonfidence and then be traded to another team where they have a good career (see Murphy, Larry and Sydor, Daryl). No offense, but I'll take his philosophy over yours any day.

i think its possible for the 08/09 kings to look alot like the 06/07 penguins, but that all depends on if we get a couple solid D men and possibly a 2nd line center in the off season/draft.
Not until the defense and goalie situations are established, and that will not happen next year.
But with Ersberg/Labarbera here and with Bernier/Taylor in Manchester, with Zatkoff and Rowat on the way, I would say we are the deepest we have been at goaltender for 40 years.
We also have the deepest forward core 25-and-under perhaps in the history of the NHL.
I was trying to convey the thought that this kind of "maybe next year mentality" has been fed to the fans for years now and the kings dont have the prospects to put together a championship team in the next 5 years. well 4 years now as the season is almost over. The owner is going to have to open the checkbook to try and sign good free agents and the team just isn't willing to go that route.
Well, now you and MVEGirl have something in common. Sadly, that is not a good thing.

A. DL has been given free reign as far as FA signings go.
B. It's harder to get the high end FA's to sign here than you would think. Once Drury, Briere & Gomez were all gone that didnt really leave much last season. As much as i would have loved Drury to be a King the contract he was given was just not smart.
C. DL also knows he has some important contracts coming up in the next couple seasons w/ Kopi, JMFJ, Sully & Fro.

Defense, not so much, but getting there.
Slow down Chief.
In the Quebec Nordiques' final year of existence they had:
Joe Sakic - 25
Peter Forsberg - 21
Owen Nolan - 22
Mike Ricci - 22
Chris Simon - 22
Adam Deadmarsh - 19
