I think its time to discussing where he could actually go, and what we should be able to get as a return. Its a prospect and at least a 1st round pick, and if that pick is in the bottom half of the 1st round, another prospect or a 2nd pick is going to have to be included as well.
Detroit - Chelios comments fueled the fire here. They have a solid top 4, topped by all-world defenseman Lidstrom with Rafalski joining him as the top pairing on the powerplay. If they would part with Kindl/mid prospect/1st 08/1st09 I could see this happening, but do they really need him?
San Jose - The word on the street was that if Blake would have waived his no trade clause last deadline day, we would have moved him to the Sharks for Nabakov. They have the prospects that might get this done (Coutoure,Setoguchi,Wishart,Petrecki) and Blake would slide into their top pairing with Rivet and give them the offensive punch they lack on the blueline. If we can get 2 of those prospects and a 1st in 2008 or 2009, I think Lombardi would jump at it.
Anaheim - I don't think a deal to Anaheim makes much sense. Their top 4 is already solid, so barring their moving Beachumein east for a scorer, they aren't very good trading partners. If it a trade with them went down, we could get Ryan and Edmonton's 1st and 2nd in 2008.
Dallas - They are beat up, lack prospects, and we already have their 1st round pick in the next draft, so I think they are going to be sitting on the sidelines this deadline. They would have to part with roster players or future picks in 2009 for us to send Blake that way.
Colorado - With Sakic, Smyth, and now Statsny hurt, chances are they aren't going to load up for a cup run and might be sellers for the first time since their days in Quebec. That said, if their fortunes change, and they want Blake back for a playoff run, I'd take Nigel Williams and a 1st off their hands, especially since they could still miss the playoffs.
Minnesota/Calgary/Vancouver - Unlikely destinations, but still possible. Of the 3, Vancouver has the better prospects.
Trying to get the younger players and prospects from some of these teams these are my thoughts on who we should try to get from some of these teams.
San Jose- If they wont give up Couture, Setoguchi, or Wishart. then I would try to get them to part with one of their younger roster players Bernier, Clowe, Pavelski, Michalek, Carle, Vlasic, Ehrhoff. They prolly wouldnt give up any of the roster players but it would be nice
Colorado- I dont see them making a strong playoff push due to all the injurys. but if they do i wouldnt mind trying to rid them of TJ hensick
Minnesota- I would love to do a deal with them to get a goalie but i dont see us getting a goalie with just Blake (maybe ana draft day move of cammi/prospect/pick, but thats another story) I could see us trying to get Shawn Belle from them if they want to make the playoff push.
Ottawa- Hennessy would be awesome!!! Foligno, lee, and lyamin. anyone would be great to get from them. If it was Lyamin another prospect/ pick should be added.
Det- a package involving kindle would be about it, they really dont have any prospects/ young roster players that would make it a good trade.
NYR- How great would it be if we could steal Staal from them (he is at the top of my wishlist) Sanguinetti would be nice if he could play the body more, a friend of mine tells me that if he would take the body he could already be up with the rags. I wouldnt mind a deal that would send Dubinsky this way either. He would fit nicely onto the second line here.
Out of all these teams I could only see Blake going to OTT, DET, and NYR.
There's word that Bergeron is done for the season, meaning that his contract gets freed up to be used on whoever they need. Having Chara and Blake on the backline could be awesome for them...heck I might even consider sending Cammy over if they offer the right deal.
Couple prospects of there's that could prove interesting in addition to a couple of picks would be Lashoff or Hamill. Tommy Cross would be more of a project, but with the right combo of picks wouldn't be bad either.
