About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. 1) he tried to throw a check - he bounced off
2) positionally, he seemed more comfortable than Boyle
3) it was a very, very nice showcase
when you don't have one stand out player in a game like this one how do you expect a 21 year old rookie on his first game call up do anything that stands out. He did have some hustle unlike the rest of the team.
maybe its just me, but every guy we call up isnt gonna be a offensive stud, would anyone complain if tukonen turned out to be a madden/pahlsson type player?
He did show some good speed, but he looks to be of slight build. He's going to need to bulk up some more if he wants to fill a third line checking role at the NHL level.
He looked better than Gauthier and Harrold in their first games but not as good as Purcell or Boyle.
I wouldn't mind seeing him stick as a 4th liner for a while. That's a role that Boyle/Moulson/Purcell/Gauthier don't really fit in. Tukonen on the other hand should be fine. No pressure to score, while requiring that he take the body to stay on the team.
Not the best game to attempt an evaluation of a 21 year old kid just called up from the AHL The whole team flat out stunk tonight, 3 games in 4 nights and the flu bug going around the room will do that to you. Not to mention that the Yotes have their number this season. Give Tuk a few games, at least.
