On outplaying the Kings in the first period . . .
“We played a phenomenal first period and came out and played a terrible second. That was the difference in the game.”
On playing a lackluster second period with so much at stake . . .
“Yeah, especially because Vancouver won and somebody else won. It wasn’t good.”
On Los Angeles’ four-goal barrage . . .
“All four goals they got were . . . I wouldn’t say lucky . . . but they weren’t actually great plays on their part. The first one, I make a save, the guy bats it out of the air on the rebound. The second one, the guy tries to make a college move and whiffs on it. It goes right to their guy and he puts it in an empty net. The third one, if (Erik Johnson) doesn’t hit it, I corral it with my stick. But (Johnson gets a stick on the puck and) it goes right to their guy. The fourth one bounces off the end boards and jumps right back in front. I guess you know it’s not your night when those things are happening.
“We should have been up 3-0 after the first period. The puck wasn’t going in for us and then they come out and get bounces like that in the second.”
(As Legace was doing the interview, he launched a ball of tape about 20 feet in the air across the Blues’ locker room. It bounced once or twice off the trash can lid and fell in. Legace sees that and says, “Oh, now I’m going to get the bounces.”)
On getting pulled in the second period after L.A. went up 4-0 . . .
“Yeah, after 4-0, the coaches came up and said, ‘Just get ready to play tomorrow.’ I didn’t play bad. I just didn’t get any bounces.”
My personal opinion-sour grapes.
By the way add another LOWLY headline to our total.

When i listened to Manny when he was mic'ed up during the All-Star game, he seemed to be like a pretty funny guy. After reading this, it just seems like hes the kind of guy that wont take the blame on himself. Oh well, he'll learn.
I'll agree none of the goals were highlight reel goals, however they were all great goals because they worked hard and crashed the net. "They took advantage of their chances and opportunities", The Blues didn't...
What is the big deal here? He basically said that the Kings goals were great plays on theit part and that his team didn't get the lucky bounces in the first period when they were getting their chances.
