Heya, long time Swedish Kings fan here (since about 15 years now). I've been lurking on this forum a while and found some information I thought you'd like to hear.
The Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet has an interview with Ersberg in it because of his expected first NHL starting game tonight. In it he says Labarbera appears to be out for the season so Ersberg will probably stay with the Kings.
In summary he talks a bit about his first NHL experience (stepping into a losing 5-1 game), the climate of LA compared to Manchester, how he doesn't mind taking the bus with his AHL team but flying with the Kings is nice, and that he would love to play in the World Championships if Swedish coach Bengt-Åke wants him to.
The comment he made in regards to Labarbera was this:
I got a chance when Labarbera got hurt and from what I understand he isn't coming back this season. So it looks like I'm staying here.
I didn't know Labarberas injury was that serious. Though I wouldn't take Ersbergs word alone on it, he seems to be out for a while atleast. Good luck to Ersberg tonight and I hope we'll be seeing him some more this season if he plays well.

There isn't a whole lot of news forth coming about LaBarbera's injury. The most that I have heard is from Inside the Kings blog by Matt Kredell.

Erik Ersberg was brought up from Manchester in an emergency recall because Jason LaBarbera is out with a groin injury. Apparently, the injury had been bothering LaBarbera for a couple weeks -- though he hadn't previously mentioned it to us -- and Crawford said it took a turn for the worse recently. Cloutier will get the start in net tonight.
What an insult to all hard working KIngs fans to have to watch Cloutier play goal the rest of the season.
Angry doesn't even begin to describe this 40 year Kings fan towards Lombardi. I guess if we suck long enough and draft young blue chip players then he might look good. IMO Brian Burke and others run circles around DL.
well, I'll be the first Big Brown, to WELCOME you officially, and also THANK you for the info, I'm betting that is true, and Lombardi is in full "tanking" mode as far as this Los Angeles Kings season is concerned.
Id like to see JLB back next year, as a backup, and a true #1 signed or traded for.
I'm still in Dean's corner, but the 2 worst moves so far were 1. trading for Cloutier and 2. signing him to an extension before he even played a game here.
To think we were so close to getting Luongo from that stooge Keenan before Vancouver swooped in still stings.
LaBarbera probably got hurt during that game against Philly. I remember a lot of people on the board were mentioning it looked like he hurt himself during that game. Interesting.

1) Hard working Kings fans?
2) Cloutier has actually played decently since coming back.
3) Burke inherited a much more solid team with recent success. DL inherited a train wreck of a team.
4) Pittsburgh recieved 3 top picks from sucking. Now they are a force in the East. It happens.
