About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. Having the richest owner in the NHL...

Quote:
1. Philip F. Anschutz
Team: L.A. Kings
Net Worth: $7.6 billion
Anschutz is probably the most diversified sports team owner in the world through his company AEG. In addition to the Kings, he owns stakes in two European hockey teams, pro basketball's L.A. Lakers and Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy and Houston Dynamo. He knows how to get the most out of his sports holdings. When his teams are playing stretches of away games, he uses their stadiums and arenas to host other events. The Kings' home arena hosted the Grammy's this Sunday.
Also mentions Edward Roski Jr. as a minority owner of the Kings who has 2.3 Billion net worth...so combined the Kings have two owners with almost 10 billion dollars of net worth behind them. Can't we just buy the Stanley Cup?
Did everybody forget what is going on here? It's called a full scale rebuild. Just take a look at the money the Rangers spent this past off-season. They should be competing for the President's Trophy right now. This is not about which owner has the most money, it's about which GM can do the best he can under a salary cap. Last time I checked there are a lot of people praising the Kings for what they are doing in the WHOLE organization. This will not happen overnight because the Kings have the wealthiest owner. It is an even playing field. There are no George Steinbrenner's in the NHL. The owner is limited to spending a certain amount of money every year on the team. If the Kings spent Beckham kind of money on 1 player, where would that leave the rest of the team? I'll tell you, 1 superstar and a bunch of nobody's.

Another question while I'm on a rant here. Why in the hell would the Kings hire one of the most highly regarded GM's in the business if they wanted to lose? DL would have never taken the position if his job was to lose.
He spent a ton for money for Beckham, why not the Kings?!?!
(Thought I'd say it before some idjit does)
I thought he spent the money to build up soccer, to get more fans out to see the games. So hire there Wayne of there trade..
That guy owns so many of them MLS teams, and so I think this is the right place for Beckham to live and make his sponser ship money .
