Anze Kopiatr is a rising young star that will turn into a superstar. Besides him the Kings have question marks(players that are hasbeens/neverwillbes and prospects. And granted DLombardi has done an admirable job turning over rocks...One place the Kings could find some ready made players with NHL experience is Russia where players such as Oleg Saprykin, Artem Chubarov,Fedor Fedorov,Artem Kriyukov... toil. Now most of these players could only be third liners,Saprykin and Chubarov could be Second liners and are a helluva lot better than the alternative in LA(Armsttrong). Saprykin can probably be had as for Chubarov I think Vancouver still has his rights. Saprykin with AFrolov is 2/3rds of a pretty good Russian line. Now if the Kings could draft Nikita Filatov or Kirill Petrov that would be awesome. And to add to the signing the Kings could pluck Andrei Shefer from CKSA Moscow to play Defense for the Kings. I'm sure he's better than TPreissing.
Your post topic says we need a center then you bring up a couple wingers. The guy you want, Saprykin has failed as a scoring line player. The skill just isn't there. Plus he's not even a center...
I agree. I've been saying that for the last 2 years.
People are going to say Handzus is being paid too much for being a 3rd line center. He's a 3rd line center. They need someone who can play with both Cammy & Frolov.
Before the Kings start adding more offensive power they need to address the true need of this team first and that is a stronger grittier defense. The Kings right now rank 14th in the league on goals per game average at 2.74 G/G and are still ranked at the the top of the league on the PP at #5 with 19.6% conversion rate. As for the other side the Kings are ranked 28th in league for goals against per game with 3.28 GA/G and are 28th in the league on the PK with 78.6% stopping rate. with numbers like that I would say that the more concerning issue is defense and not offense. Also, if the defensive issues get shored up then there should be more opportunities for the offense to be more productive. As the old saying goes, "Offense wins games but defense wins championships."

You know what place the team with the best #1 and #2 center tandem in the NHL is?
29th. The Tampa Bay Lightning with Lecavalier and Richards.
The Kings biggest issue is goals against...but yes, Armstrong is a joke as a second line center.
That will hopefully be addrssed in the off season, or at the deadline.
