Your post topic says we need a center then you bring up a couple wingers. The guy you want, Saprykin has failed as a scoring line player. The skill just isn't there. Plus he's not even a center...
Calgary,Phoenix and even Ottawa failed to use his talents and skills properly. Oleg Saprykin is a natural center with a great skating stride and good moves. He is lighting up the Russian Super League and I'll bet if Deano doesn't sign him Someone will,I'll wager a 100 US dollars on that...

Sapykin has been given numerous opportunities to succeed, especially in Phoenix and he's not consistent enough offensivly to contribute. He has some nice attributes, he's has some sandpaper in his game and he plays a physical style but he's just not a top 6 player.
Alexei Morozov tears up the Russian League too. Should we sign him? Absolutley not.
If Sapykin never played in the "Dub" you wouldn't be clamoring to sign him.
I just occurred to me that being a Kings fan is comparable to serving a prison sentence. I've put in about 11 years, and am up for parole in 2 (at which point I can only HOPE things go well for me). Aside from that, I actually have to try and forget about the present. It's like I'm hoping that years of my life pass by, based on nothing more than the speculation that things might get better (but given my history, I'm likely going to end up right back in prison).
The parallel between being a Kings fan and being a prisoner is truly amazing.
Only a idiot/fool pretends he has all the answers. Are you sure the RSL is full of players that couldn't cut in the NHL...just answer the question and we'll know what you are exactly...

Are you sure you're talking about the same OSaprykin because I won't describe his game quite like that. Saprykin is a pure finesse player with great wheels and grood stick handling moves. Calgary like Phoenix utilized him on the 4th line with the puckheads and plummers. That sure is efforting the player an opportunity...And if he was still in Ottawa who did they have to compilment his game...Ya can't make art from plummers and horsecrap...

When one's argument is "he's tearing up the RSL" that speaks for itself.
Plus there's evidence of Saprykin not cutting it at the NHL level. What makes you think he'll magically comeback and start producing at a top 6 clip when he never could before.
Again, if Saprykin never played in the "Dub" you wouldn't be all over his jock. Especially saying he should be a playing a position he never played in the NHL.

You're right - there are players overseas that can cut it in the NHL. Like one past example - Derek Armstrong! Oh wait, that's who you are trying to oust at the 2nd line center...
The Kings have gone the dumpster diving route many times in the past. If they want a legit #2 center they either need to trade for one or trying signing another one in the offseason.

Saprykin was never the sterotypical Russian player. He was pretty gritty and had some skill to go along with it. He had speed but he was never a very talented offensive player. No one ever thought Saprykin was the next Bure. He had some skill but one of the reasons he was drafted so high was because he had some sandpaper in his game.
I'm beginning to think YOU never saw Saprykin play. He was not a "pure" finesse player, he threw his body around quite a bit, especially for a Russian.
You know what place the team with the best #1 and #2 center tandem in the NHL is?
29th. The Tampa Bay Lightning with Lecavalier and Richards.
The Kings biggest issue is goals against...but yes, Armstrong is a joke as a second line center.
That will hopefully be addrssed in the off season, or at the deadline.
.
Actually the team with the best 1-2 centers in MY opinion is the Penguins with Crosby and Malkin.
You can also look back and see teams that won cups in recent years and their top 2 centers:
Detroit 3 cups - Yzerman/Federov
Colorado 2 cups - Forbserg/Sakic
Tampa 1 cup - Lecavlier/Richards
Carolina 1 cup - Brindamour/Staal
Dallas 1 cup - Modano/Newinduyk
Devils 2 cups - Arnott/Gomez
etc...
Defense is important to winning games, but IMO having elite forwards can be just as important as having elite defensmen. Defensmen have more value naturally because there is 12 forwards on a team and only 6 defensmen.
