"Don’t be surprised if St.Louis takes Kelowna D-man Luke Schenn at number 4. He may not be as offensive as the other top D-men in the draft, but anybody who paid attention to the World Junior Championships last spring knows he was a stalwart and was a huge part of Canada’s success. One scout recently told me he’s the total package who can control the pace of the game. He’s calm with the puck, makes a terrific first pass, and is being compared to Hall of Famer Scott Stevens."
Watching Schenn playing with Hickey in the Junior Championships made me think that maybe this duo should stay together. Schenn compared to Stevens? Hickey compared to Niedermayer? Sounds okay to me...
It's really kind of shocking that the Kings would take the guy who was the top rated defenseman for most of the year at #2 overall. I know I'm surprised.
So Am I the only one thats pumped up about this. I think Drew Doughty is gonna be a great pick up at the 2 spot, and I am not entirely convinced that we cant get back into the top 10 like deano did 2 years ago with Brenier and Lewis and maybe get another young defenseman.
As an added bonus Doughty wants to come and play here - always a plus

Me too, this is a real bonafide shocker. Surprised hockey buzz was the first to scoop this big story. I wonder who there sources are?

Trevor Lewis was taken 17th overall but I agree. I think it's going to be extremely costly to get into the Top 10 this year.

My sources tell me that the Kings are currently debating between defensemen Drew Doughty and Zach Bogosian. I've also heard that the Kings are currently fielding offers from other teams for the pick but the price is steep. I've heard one source say, "They're asking for the bank!" Expect names like Tyler Myers, Zach Boychuk, Luke Shenn and Russian superstar Nikita Filatov to go in the top 10. There is some feeling of hesitation, however, for teams to take Filatov given the lack of a transfer agreement with the IIHF.
