may wanna read up on him a bit. he's a great all around defenseman, but isnt overly physical. If i remember correctly he got voted best defensive d-man in the OHL this year (I think).

Now they can grab more assets earlier in the draft, or possibly an additional 1st round pick next season.

Thats what I'm saying!!!
Yeah, I don't see at all how the Kings could be taking Doughty no questions asked. The top 3-4 are so close that anything can happen. I really don't see us taking Doughty at #2 (I know, a big suprise to some of you lol).

I'm not sure why anyone from the Kings would tell a single person who we are looking for unless it was just a BS conversation. Yeah, we want Doughty because we have the #2 pick, and in many if not most rankings he is the #2 guy. Does not mean ****.

Like the Hickey situation, the Kings will float the #2 pick, have no takers (for what they are looking for), then take whoever they have ranked at #2.

well, friend, it can't be THAT humourous...
you're going to find, through the years, that the percentages are solid for top-5 picks on the blueline, guys chosen that high generally spend quality time in the big show.
sure, you can find exceptions, but more recently -- new training regimens, intense scouting, yadda yadda -- these top guys are very near certainly going to make an impact in the NHL.

so it's not all that funny, really.

hip, are you still here spouting your weak takes and nonsense?

hope all's well, brother : )

pretty exciting time for kings fans, huh?
i've had opportunities to see nearly all of these kids play over the past year, and i'd hate to be the Guy in Charge. bogosian seemed very much like doughty, to be honest, as far as his skating/puckhandling. doughty may be a slightly more dynamic offensive player (perhaps slightly more than slightly), but for my money, i'd like to see a lot more toughness on the blueline. and yet, there's something about bogosian, some intangible that i can't quite name, that makes him seem like perhaps his potential does not touch doughty's. still, he's got a lot more of the scott stevens lunchbox attitude, and man o man i'd love to see that here in l.a.

so i don't know. perhaps ideally we could trade out of that spot (for a veteran and a just-lower pick), pick up schenn, and pair him (once again) with hickey, at some point. i'd rather they NOT deal cammy, personally. guarantee he'll score 40 goals in his first non-kings season. come on, we all know it's a virtual given, right? so why do it? work out a better deal with him (after a crap season, now'd be a good time) and see how he can grow with this group. the guy's got game.

kinda like you & me, hip.

p.s. vagina.

I am more interested in our secondary picks this year, because the # 2 pick will get us a bonafide stud, irregardless if it is doughty or not.....its our wealth of 2nd & 3rd round picks that has me salivating. Lombardi has proven with san jose and his first few years drafting in L.A. that he is a great late round scout. Some of the key guys in San Jose's core were late round picks by DL ( cheechoo, clowe, murray, etc. ) and if his la picks, simmonds, moller, cameron, martinez. etc. pan out ..we will be laughing all the way to the cup in 4-5 years

Actually, pal, it could be. There are no guarantees in this life and it would be true Kings luck to draft a defenseman with the #2 overall that either gets a career ending injury or just never pans out as touted. Just because it hasn't happened in the near past doesn't mean it can't.

But yes, the percentage is so far on your side.
