Harrold And Purcell Get The Call From The Kings
MANCHESTER, NH – The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have recalled defenseman Peter Harrold and right wing Teddy Purcell (emergency recall) from the Monarchs, and have placed forward Michael Cammalleri on the injured reserve list (retroactive to December 22), Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi today announced.
Harrold, 24, has played in 39 games with the Monarchs this season, and has recorded 38 points (7-31=38). His 31 assists rank second overall on the team (and first among all AHL defensemen) while his 38 points rank third overall on the team (and first among all AHL defensemen). Named last week to PlanetUSA’s AHL All-Star Team, Harrold, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound native of Kirtland Hills, Ohio, has played in 12 career NHL games – all with the Kings – and has two points (both assists). He was originally signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on April 12, 2006.
Purcell, 23, has played in all 40 games with the Monarchs this season, and has a team-high 53 points and a team-high 39 assists. In the AHL, Purcell is third in points and first among rookies; tied for second in assists and first among rookies; and he was selected as the AHL Rookie of the Month in November. Named last week as a starter for the Canadian AHL All-Star Team, Purcell, a former standout at the University of Maine (he helped the Black Bears advance to the 2007 Frozen Four), is a 6-foot-3, 177-pound native of St. John’s, Newfoundland. Originally signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on April 27, 2007, Purcell has not played in the NHL.
Cammalleri, 25, suffered a rib injury during the Kings-Nashville game on December 22 in Nashville and has missed the club’s last nine games. He has played in 36 with the Kings this season and has 29 points (15-14=29), with his 15 goals ranking third on the team; his 29 points ranking fourth and his nine power play goals ranking second on the team. The 5-foot-9, 185-pound native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, was originally selected by the Kings in the second-round (49th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in 256 career regular season NHL games – all with the Kings – and has 187 points (89-98=187).

It's only a matter of time before some complains that they are going to be denied the chance to play in the AHL All Star Game due to being on the Kings' roster.
Hey, why the hell not. Looking forward to seeing them play Detroit next Tuesday. Put Purcell on line#3 and give him more than 8-10 minutes per game please.
