About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. I wouldn't post that unless I noticed some extra intensity in the games he has dropped the gloves in, "PROPS" to Raitis could be the right word
I wouldn't post that unless I noticed some extra intensity in the games he has dropped the gloves in, "PROPS" to Raitis could be the right word in this case I guess, Im guessing that fight total might be between 10-15 if he was healthy all year, he missed a lot of games, then played in many he wasnt able to fight in.
Half of them road games too, although the last one at home was a dandy.
Kings are 5-1 when Raitis fights.
Kings are 15-30 (simplified) when Raitis hasn't fought.
Maybe it has just happened that way, or maybe it has some real impact on this team... I wouldnt be one to say for sure, but either way it is a glaring stat.

And I wonder what our record was when he had to wear that face shield and couldn't fight. Then when he got the face shield off and could fight again, aren't we 5 of 7?
His fights are usually the catalyst to the Kings scoring some unanswered goals as well.

If the Kings are down a goal Raitis isn't fighting. Why would a player risk serious injury without anything to gain?
Raitis is one of the rare breeds of true heavyweights that according to the code can't pick a fight. If no one on the other team is in his weight class, he can't simply pick out a guy that he outweighs by 30 pounds, he can only throw if challenged. It sucks for the Kings, but otherwise it would lead to an NHL arms race.
That's why they need to get some middleweights and light heavyweights that can fight. Look at what Cote is doing in Philly. He's about 210 and fought Chara and some of the other big boys. Thornton is over the hill. They need to get more physical and some guys that can throw.
case in point, Kingsy Kingerton fanboys... Raitis Ivanans did NOT win his fight against Georgie "the Princeton Pugilist" Parros the other night. he merely threw the nicest punch.
if the best bunch were ANY indicator of who wins a fight, then i guess the entire history post Holmes-Cooney needs to be rewritten because Gerry threw a punch in the second round just before he got knocked down that would've killed most men.
