About This Page: This is a discussion on LA Kings Talk within the LetsGoKings.com forums, at Los Angeles Kings Hockey Fan Forum. How many times were the Kings already in the lead when those happened? With how much time left?
jj289 your right, but if brown would stop turning down fights at every corner, and jack would get down to really learning the ropes of it, they would already have a few... those two guys have it in them, i think jack will with time i hope, but brown has got to stop freight training guys when the kings are up or down 3 or 4 goals, or start setting it when he does and the other team challenges him, love the guy but im not sure i like it when he does that.
Regarding the games against Anaheim, were you referring to the 3rd period when Beauchemin tried to goat Brown into a fight in the offensive zone while the Kings were on the PP with less than five minutes to go? Brown was right to turn that down. Brown should fight more, but I don't want him to change the physical aspect of his game at all. Unfortunatley, Brown singlehandedly provides the majority of the physical play for this team. That's why they need more depth in that department. Not just guys that can fight, but play a physical game without being a liability.
George Parros is NOT the best fighter in the game... far from. but he WILL fight everyone and anyone.
And Ivanans won't? He's fought Chara, Boogard, Laraque, etc. who WON'T he fight?
And when he looks over at the bench and Crow shakes his head telling him NOT to go, you can't fault Raitis for that.
He tried to go with Parros in the 3rd period of that game when the Ducks were down 3-0 and Parros skated away.
That's just one instance where he wouldn't fight, there are others.

Would you ask Alex Ovechkin to do your fighting for you? Hell no. Brown's our leading scorer, and the leading American scorer. How often does Mike Modano fight?
Do you want Brown to end up like Deadmarsh? Keep the shield and the mitts.

Are you saying Parros takes on tougher opponents, or just fights more in general?
inevitably they will take on the same opponents, give or take... Georgie just seems FAR more interested in playing his role.
there are 29 teams in the NHL that are not in any way, shape or form physically afraid of Los Angeles... WITH Raitis Ivanans.
there are MANY teams in the NHL that are physically afraid of Anaheim... WITH George Parros.
personally, i would not hesitate to give Parros an occasional shift during the playoffs. Raitis Ivanans on the other hand, well he'd be wearing a really nice suit.

im not really talking about any one point in time, i can think of many times this season he has thrown some questionable hits at in-opportune times and turned down fights, i believe it was against the avs earlier this year someone tried to fight him, and he literally shook his head no, and it was right after the whistle in a game the kings were losing by 2 goals at home. i like dustin brown and he is an offensive monster now as well as one of the best hitters in the game, but he still doesnt stand up for what he does 100%.

I agree about the 29 teams in the NHL not physically afraid of LA, but if you switched Ivanans and Parros out that wouldn't change. The Ducks physically intimidate teams because of their overall team toughness and I don't think Parros has anything to do with that. You put Raitis on the Ducks and he'd be just as effective.
