New Jersey passed Dallas in the Standings today. Colorado tied Dallas although Dallas has 2 games in hand. Calgary gained on Dallas and is a point behind but Dallas has a game in hand. Edmonton was eliminated from the playoffs today.
Dallas can finish no lower than 7th in the Western Conference at this point.
Tomorrow's Important Games for the Dallas Draft Pick are:
BOS vs NJD <-- New Jersey can further separate from Dallas.
TBL vs CAR <-- Honestly, let's have Tampa Bay win here. Who cares where Carolina finishes.
PHI vs PIT <-- Philly can gain on Dallas (3 behind with 2 games left), PIT cannot be passed by Dallas.
I've picked the standings up at #5 (Anaheim) through #16 (Washington) and dropped all the other teams, including Vancouver and Nashville, off the list because they can't catch or be caught by Dallas.
Would everyone throw a fit if DL traded Dallas' pick for Cam Barker?
That would be a great trade for the Kings - 3rd overall pick in '04. I don't see any reason why CHI would want to make the trade though. Don't really see them unloading any of their young D men at this time.

Yeah, it would really depend upon them falling in love with a prospect that's available when our second pick is up and of all their young dmen I'm guessing they'd move Barker first.
I wonder what value the Dallas pick has in terms of burgeoning or established NHL talent on the blueline.

I'd be fine with it... except I think that the Blackhawks are a year or two ahead of the Kings of where they want to be in terms of development. Trading away a key prospect for a first round pick is a major step back, and I don't think they'd want to do it.
