So I'm at the PF Changs in Manhattan Beach waiting to be seated at 8 pm when none other than....
JACK JOHNSON strolls in to the place.
He was with his family (dad, mom, and a kid I can only imagine was his little brother)... they asked how long the wait was and I guess it was too long because the left.
A few things...
1) I have no problem with Jack being with his family, but come on LGK ladies! It's Valentine's Day! One of you needed to be there with Jack tonight!
2) It just makes me hate the fact that hockey gets no respect even more. This is JACK JOHNSON. If he were Andrew Bynum I'm sure a table would have miraculously opened up. I mean it goes to show the guy is down to earth that he didn't just drop a hundred to get a table... but he shouldn't have to! Amazing that a guy like this can go completely unrecognized.
3) According to my girlfriend, Jack is "much hotter in person then in the pictures and on TV", so, take that for what it is worth.
Anyways, just thought I'd share. I'm not really one to bug celebs, especially when they are with their families. I just patted him on the shoulder and said "Hey, don't want to bother you, but I'm a big fan". He smiled and thanked me, seemed cool enough.
I'm honestly a fan of the Kings JUST for Kopitar (and maybe Cloutier), so I don't know a whole lot about them, and only really know about Johnson because of his connection with Luc Bourdon, who plays on my city's club. Is there a reason they'd know who he is? I always thought that hockey wasn't very popular in Los Angeles, and from what I've seen of Jack Johnson, he isn't really your star player, so there probably aren't many who would recognize him.
Although it's cool that he seems so humble. Hockey players seem to be like that a lot, at least here in Vancouver. You always see Willie Mitchell riding around his bike with his groceries from the local Organic foods store.
I think Andrew Bynum is a little more recognizable than Jack Johnson. If the Kings continue to improve over the years it wont be long before everyone in LA knows who he is.
If you thought he should have been given a spot ahead of others already there you could have given him yours.
Well apparently he was there with his girlfriend. That'd look really good... "no, I'm sorry honey, don't you know who this is? We HAVE to give him our spot! It's ok, we'll just have Valentine's dinner at McDonalds this year."

You actually agreed with the point I made even though you didn't realize it. Even he didn't want to be inconvenienced or considered less important by having to wait longer so someone "more important" is seated. He thinks it's OK to cause everyone to wait longer so why not just make himself and his girlfriend wait since he said Jack and family should be more important in his own opinion. What his date wouldn't agree? Why not? Because it isn't the right thing to do.
