Edmonton forward Sam Gagner and Vancouver defenceman Alex Edler are among the players who will take part in the YoungStars Game during All-Star weekend.

Gagner, who has 16 points and has been a key contributor in shootouts this season, is one of three forwards named to the Western Conference team Tuesday. He will be joined by Patrick Kane (Chicago), Peter Mueller (Phoenix) and David Perron (St. Louis).

Edler, who leads all rookies with a +18 rating, is one of three blueliners on the Western Conference squad. Also making the team were Erik Johnson (St. Louis), Jack Johnson (Los Angeles) and Matt Niskanen (Dallas).

Interesting. TSN used to list both Erik and Jack Johnson as "Franchise Defensemen".

Now, the career potential lists Erik as "Power Play QB" and Jack as "Top Pairing Defenseman"
