I had never heard "JMFJ" before the trade. It is my understanding that the nickname was spawned almost immediately after the trade went down by excited Kings fans.
And Fly knows that I attended many Michigan games during jack's tenure. If the nickname was there before the trade, it is news to me. I just remember seeing it all over LGK and HF Boards after Carolina shipped him out, and not once hearing it before despite spending a great deal of time watching Jack at Yost.
Then I stand corrected, mea culpa. I thought the JMFJ moniker came late in freshman year and included some merchandise opportunities. However, being older with a memory that isn't what it used to be, I'd go with JJF's memory as well as him being closer to the situation than I.
I was merely trying to go for accuracy, not any sort of slam to LGK. However, if you must , go for it as I deserve it in this case.
JMFJ most definitely was an LGK creation, and it became well-known in Michigan after two things:
1) The LGK JMFJ shirts (which the Johnson family picked up on, purchased, and wore).
2) The LGK "legend of" thread (which was linked to in a couple of Michigan blogs).

Just to set the record straight . . . After the moniker was shortened to "JMFJ", one of the Michigan bloggers printed some shirts first. I saw those and kind of said "Hey, WE thought of it!" so I made a shirt also. The one that Jack Sr. bought and wore to one of the Michigan games for his dancing routine was actually bought from the Mich. blog (blue shirt with yellow 'maize' letters).
I agree that the photoshop thread is what really brought the attention to the name and made is spread amongst the students.

Eh, details. The idea for the moniker and the shirts were here first! It's the thought that counts.

Muchos Gracias! I actually learned something today.
