Stopped at an Italian place last night for a glass of wine with my date and lo' and behold Jim and Dave were at the end of the bar having dinner. As we walked out to leave through the back, I stopped to say hello and something along the lines of "we'll get'em next year.." I wasn't wanting to impose or be a jerk and was shocked as Jim turned to me, asked me my name, shook my hand, introduced me to Dave and talked shop for a few minutes. I mentioned how I had just moved back from Phoenix, glad to be back, etc.
Synopsis from our brief exchange: Fox noted how he can't remember a time in the organization where we were so stocked, and couldn't say enough about Kopitar, Brown and O'sullivan and JMFJ (and I did refer to him as JMFJ which got a laugh) I threw out some numbers from the game and Fox says, "Oh yes, someone was listening!" and raised his glass. Dave agreed wholeheartedly on the teams youth, but both commented on how they had expected way more from the vets on this team (no *****??).
The funny/akward part of the conversation was when Jim said something along the lines of, "Oh great. Well, where are you guys headed?" and for a split second in my head I thought, "Jim wants to hang out?" I told him we were heading back towards West LA, but again it caught me off guard and my girl and I laughed about it in the car.
Anyhow; that's it. It wasn't Taco Bell, but still pretty cool.

No surprise about Jim. He's probably the most accessible, cordial guy I've ever met in pro sports. I've seen him talk to a couple fans for a solid hour at prospects camp. Believe me, he LOVES the Kings.
Between what Jim and Dave said -- the youth and the UFA disasters -- they pretty much summed it up. Though I do think Preissing and Handzus will be considerably better next year. There's often a down year in the first season of a UFA deal -- new city and teammates to adjust to, or maybe they relax a bit with all that money in the bank.

yeah, i met him in the bathroom at staples once. i was just washing my hands and he was putting powder on his face for the camera. i didnt even realize he was standing next to me cause i didnt look at him, but then he started talking to me and i looked up and was like "omg", and he jokingly asking me if i wanted some powder too (as if we were girls getting ready or something). we ended up talking about the kings for a few minutes until i went back to my section. he is for sure the coolest most down to earth tv person iv ever met. i couldnt believe it.
