Reading Ek's blog today about where Carter fits in with the Flyers with them having so much salary commited to Richards, Briere & Timonen long-term. He brings up the point of teams possibly giving Carter an offer sheet.

With people crying on here on how we need a 2nd line center. Do you think that would be a wise route to take. Remember that we still do have to lock up players like O'Sullivan, Kopitar & Jack long-term in the next 2 years. It would be easier to do especially if Cammy gets traded.

It might also depend what we do at the draft.

Given DL/Hextall's relationship with Philly, I wouldn't expect an offer sheet. If the Kings were interested, the two teams could probably talk trade at the draft.

If you want a gauge of how Philly values Carter and what they need, they offered Carter+draft pick (presumably this year's first) for Tomas Kaberle. Kaberle put the kibosh on the deal with his NTC.

Carter's price has definitely gone up with the way he has played since Richards' injury.

Maybe Umberger is now the odd man out in Philadelphia.

I wouldn't sign Carter to an offer sheet, not with this year's draft picks on the line.

He's going to be a #1 center in this league. I wouldn't give him an offer sheet but I would at least inquire to see if he's available.

He's #3 behind Briere & Richards. He's put up solid #'s despite being 3rd line center.

This is the type of player you trade Cammy for.

Demitra is more likely to be the Kings #2 center than Carter. DL will be looking to sign D for big money
