It's been baby steps with JJ, that's for sure. I think thus far this season he's progressed to taking the puck as far as the opposing teams blue line. I'm waiting for the day that he gives himself the green light to go the next step further and take the puck all the way to the opposing teams net. Maybe that will be next season's area to work on. I think he could also stand to use some heavy work this offseason in the gym, but I imagine his first full length NHL season is probably taking some toll on him now.
I'm hoping that by 2010 he will be going end to end with his eyes closed, juking the goalie, and roofing it 5-hole followed by quickly slaying the goalie and then taking on the entire opposing teams bench.

Do you remember the post from Jack's buddy where he outlined how he was working his azz off all offseason? If half that post was true, I'd never question workout intensity. I will never forget the response he supposedly gave when questioned why he was working out so hard.
I've seen JMFJ defend the others. What was he really going to do with Brown all over Volchenkov already? Take another penalty or get a third-man in? I think if he was to get in there first, he would have done more.
But I do agree with you, he should be allowed to be JMFJ and not just Jack Johnson.
I agree wholeheartedly with this post. JMFJ started to skate toward the scrum but justice was already being exacted. JMFJ turned around and made sure other people didn't go after Brown.
I didnt get to watch the game and i missed O'Sullivan being run, but if the game was tied or 1-0 having a player of Jack Johnson's caliber off the ice does not help the team at all.
Would it really have mattered? We aren't in the run for a playoff spot and he is still pretty erroneous defensively. Last year he threw down to stick up for his players and this year he has been held back from being physical. Let the players play their own game. The coaches need to build chemistry and not take players out of their comfort zone.
I noticed Bryan Murray has his team playing his "tough" style of hockey, now, sticking their knees out all over the place. I was more upset at the refs, who now can spot any stick that's parallel to the ice touching the mid-section of some one, but can't see a knee wiping a player out.
