I'm not sure if it's a comfort thing, or a strength thing, and I love the kid, but he really needs to work on this in the offseason. I know he's capable. Those of us who watched him at U of M know he can tag the puck, but damn he's been ugly this year on the one-timers.
Give him time. Do you remember Blake's first few years in the league? Even perfect and soft passes from Gretzky were stopped and T'd up by Blake. I don't think I saw him on-time a shot in a game for 2-3 years. It used to piss me off to no end. At least JMFJ is trying and will be up to speed quicker than Blake was.
BTW, Homeboy led ALL Kings with +26 minutes of ice time and last I checked the coaching staff isn't really expecting him to be racking up points considering he's the only defenseman that can defend. As stated above, he'll be fine once this team gets more support defensively.

Ice time is only a coaches discretion. It has nothing to do with talent.
As for Bandit's post....I actually couldn't agree more. The last few games he has wiffed on more slappers than a pro should.
He's trying too hard, and that's messing with his head. I think now that he has a full season under his belt he will come back next year a little more relaxed, and then the fun will begin.
Ice time is a coaches decision...Truer words were never spoken.
However, coaches (well, the good ones); base who gets ice time on among other things...talent and quality of play!!
JMFJ is capable beyond his years and experience. Thus, he gets huge ice time. It doesn't hurt that he is arguably more capable than any of our other defensemen as well.
I think, JMFJ will work on that part of his game. If his vision on the ice seems to be slowing down and he is able to see things more clearly, his body will match it at some point either this season or next. Don't worry too much about that.
The real worry still remains who the **** is gonna fill the holes that exist on defense?

These will be at least partially addressed during the off-season, through trades, and the development of existing talent. We should see a more improved team next year.
<Another long drink of KOOLAID (Laced with even more Rum...it heightens the effect )>"MMmmm, Sunshine punch with Rum is sure good!
