We've seen a different, edgier Jack Johnson over the last few weeks. Opposing players hanging out in the crease are getting cleared the **** out. Take exception, and he's likely to punch you in the head. He doesn't seem to care who it is; role player or superstar, he's dishing out punishment on a first-come, first-served basis.
I love it.
What I DON'T love are 2 things that happened on this trip, involving Jack's interaction with referees. I think it was during the Devil's game when Jack BLATANTLY tripped a Devil, and then as JJ is skating to the box, he's shaking his head and signaling to the ref that it was a dive. The replay showed that it was clearly NOT a dive, and I inferred from the way that Jim Fox talked about it that he didn't approve of Johnson showing up the referee that way. I'm sure the referee didn't approve either.
Then, in yesterday's game, he obviously said something obnoxious enough to the ref to earn himself a 10 minute misconduct during a critical part of the game. He was lucky that they didn't tack a 2-minute unsportsmanlike conduct penalty onto it.
Referee's are people. If you annoy and harass them, you're not going to get the benefit of the doubt in borderline situations. If you're a player who plays on edge, you're going to put yourself in numerous situations where a penalty COULD be called. Don't give the refs any reason to WANT to call penalties on you. Penalties lead to power players for the other guys, which lead to goals, which lead to losses, and we all know how JMFJ hates to lose, right?
Stay mean, Jack, but please stay smart, too, mmmkay?

Yea expect to see more of that as JMFJ matures, he's YOUNG, a rookie and as DL would say, "Barely Shaving". Cut him some slack it's going to get worse before it gets better.
What we don't want for him (and your post is well-taken for this) is a bunch of refs who give him a stereotype and look to him when they have to make a call. The refs, some of them at least, understand the trials and tribulations of a new player in the league though and hopefully won't develop that stereotype of JMFJ too early.

people said the same thing about crosby. actually it was more like sid is a whiny bitch. as you say the edge is nice. in a year or two jj will learn what to say and when to say it.
Some complain when he doesn't do anything and others complain when he does. He's a kid and wants to win. Kids haven't learned how to control their temper sometimes. He'll be fine.
He's a kid. He wants to win and hates to lose. Things will work themselves out. It's not like his penalty cost the team anything... It was good to lose.

Jack's fine. He's probably tired of being on a ****ty team for almost a full year and watching the likes of Lubo and Cammalleri make the dumbest ****ing moves on the powerplay.
I mean seriously, Lubo, Cammalleri and LaBarbera played like **** last night and I would have needed to vent too.
