Remember there is no fighting in the NCAA so I would guess it's combination of him not being very comfortable fighting and the coaching not encouraging him to. That said, he has done some standing up for teammates this season.
Before you guys get the wrong impression of him. Jack Johnson is trying to develop the defensive aspect of his game before going around nailing people. Remember, he's still a rookie and he's already proving his worth.
He tried to fight last year and got his ass handed to him..
I don't blame him for not fighting.
well you cant expect him to do very well on his first fight in the nhl from college..but you can expect him to work on it and try again sometime..but its just not happening. that really sucks if he is forbidden from fighting.
He will fight, eventually. No need for him to be throwing haymakers when he is getting great minutes as a rookie, making very few mistakes, and generally playing with poise and skill well beyond most rookies.
Just watch his break out passes and you know this guy is special.
I don't need to see him fight yet, I want him on the ice, not in the box.

Your assumption was misplaced. Physical does not neccessarily mean fighter. Haven't you kind of gotten the idea that fighting is not encouraged on this club? Outside of Ivanans and an early Thorton fight how many have there been? (Handzus-Pronger was not a fight) They encouraged Zeiler's antics and either didn't want him to or knew he wouldn't fight (probably the latter). There was no response to JLB getting speared why? This team doesn't encourage fighting outside of Ivanans.
